Well, some of you may know me from some of Alex's other forums. I mainly hang here now, as well as the Epiphone and Gretsch forums. I'm also at Strat Talk.
I began playing in 1983. My first guitar was an Ibanez Roadstar II RS 100. My first amp was a Peavy Decade. Almost a year after I started playing, I began buying beat up and non functional guitars and rehabbed them into functional, playable instruments. I would buy them, fix them up, and then sell them.
One day when I was 14 or 15, I was in my room and ripping on the solo to Eric Clapton's Forever Man. My Dad burst into my room and asked if that was me that he heard, to which I replied "yes". He then asked if I could do it again. I obliged and played it again. He said, " God, you're going to need a better guitar". That was in the summer time.
By the time Christmas rolled around, I was in for a surprise. After we had got done opening our gifts, my dad went went down to his bedroom and came back with a guitar case that said "Fender" on it. I opened it up, and there in the case sat a 1982 Sienna Sunburst Fender Strat. He also went back down the hall and wheeled in a Fender Dual Showman Reverb 1x15 Combo. Those were all I played on for nearly two decades.
I went in the US Air force at 19. I was a 902 Medical Service Specialist and have worn many hats in the medical field since then, from medical technician, to EMT, to nurse to Respiratory Care Practitioner, RRT, CRTT, LPN,PTA, etc.
In 2008 I became disabled, and started doing certain guitar repairs as a side hustle and started practicing guitar after a 10 year absence.
Currently I can't practice much due to an injured tendon, but it's getting better. If you've read this far, thank you very much.
And to those of you who are new to guitar playing and are in my local area of Eugene and Springfield Oregon, I'd like to offer you a free guitar set up with strings included. Send me a private message if interested.
