It’s my used 2021 75th Anniversary Am Performer.
Killer deal. Came home with me yesterday.
The fiesta red Vintera Tele is gone. Too redundant. This can make those sounds, and the neck is slicker’n snot on marble!
I was American blue collar my whole working life, so it’s a factor for me to consider.
However a good guitar is a good guitar, no matter who made it, where, or when.
Same-same a lousy guitar.
My Tele is MIM and is great.
It works. Does what they say. Sounds like a P-90 and all, but.
I’m a geezer with too much time on my hands.
If there’s one thing I’m sure about: it’s my opinions!
Well, at least not in the neck position as 5% underwound in this particular guitar.
Initially fine, but as I lived with it a while I started noticing I was trying to dial out a bit of “fragile” high end.
I asked if there was any problem shunting off the dummy coil.
Turns out they just reverse...
I can hear something in the treble freqs that requires judicious dialing out:
Lindy Fralin HC90
It sounds good, but I ordered a standard P-90 from him to replace it anyway.
Having a hidden coil takes something away I can’t quite put my finger on, but can hear.
$125.
Again, not a bad sounding...
When I was playing outdoor concert volume rock&roll, Ampeg V4, 4X12, and a Telecaster. Awesome rig at the time.
Those days are long gone, but the tinnitus remains.
Best sounding? Now, by far!
Quilter Aviator, and a slab P-90 (in two iterations):
Certainly have, repeatedly.
They’re like Tribles (old Star Trek episode).
They breed like them.
I’m always cutting back and thinning the stable.
Then my GAS addiction sees “something I’ve always wanted!”
At the current moment I’ve mercilessly cut it down to just two:
But one on order is coming...
