Amazing players the both of them.
I ran across this the other day. This is when Vai had shoulder surgery and couldn't use his right hand. That didn't seem to stop him from writing new music. :D
Not historically he hasn’t but he’s a Gibson endorsed player now so I guess he’s creating signature models in addition to the V. I can’t see him doing an Explorer as that’s too much associated with Hetfield but stranger things have happened.
I'm girding my loins on the price of those. I like the idea of 24 frets but LPs (for me) are tough to play up there at 22 frets so another 2 is going to be a chore working around that blocky heel...unless they solved for that.
I find it hard to believe that Greeny, a guitar originally used for blues and rock, can do a better job at playing metal than most PRS's...particularly when they can ramp up the gain and adjust EQ to correct for any variations to Hammett's usual pristine tone (sarcasm alert).
That’s what I’m hearing. It’s an all day festival with Metallica, Slayer and a bunch of acts playing. I heard there’s supposed to be some sort of jam with a bunch of players from different bands. It would be really cool if Ozzy could join Jake and Rudy but we’ll see.
I'm so tempted to try to get tickets and fly out there for the weekend to see this. Hopefully they can pull off a great show. I'm curious if Ozzy will come out and play with Jake and Rudy. It looks like a great lineup all around.
Happy new year!
This one was actually the last song I recorded for 2024. Like any Rush song I attempt, it's not without its flaws but I'm still happy to get it close.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and safe 2025!

The Epi’s have been grabbing my attention lately. I owned a mid 90s LP model (I forget the year but it was when they started making them again) which was MIK and it was decent but lacking in areas (pickups, pots, tuners). The Epi Adam Jones LP has really grabbed my attention and it looks like...
For me it’s less about where it’s made and more about what it’s made of. Import models are often made with lesser quality components than their American counterparts but even that gap is closing.
I'm back with another Tool song. It seems lately every 3rd or 4th tune I do is by them as I plod onward in my quest to learn every one. This one might be one of their best known even by those who don't follow the band.
